The Planned Life: Week 1

Welcome back to The Planned Life!

Weekly, I’ll be showing you my spreads (pre-filled out) and talk about some things I think are important and also do a quick recap of how my week went. If you plan as well, I would love to know your weekly themes and recaps as well so comment at your leisure!

Week of August 3rd through August 9th, 2015

w1p1   w1p2

This week was really interesting for me, planning wise. My theme was just red, orange and pink with flowers and puppies (I was dogsitting all week!)I bought this washi tape at Walgreens and was more than excited to try it out. Starting from the left page: I am not a fan of the monthly calendar that’s printed in the upper left hand of the page so I try to block that with whatever I can. My notes section tells me how much water I’ve been drinking, what book I’m reading and any other small details. I decided to add the flower border washi to the days I had off, to make them look extra fun! I have also reinvented my way of decorating to celebrate a birthday and I think it’s much cuter. On this page you can see how I began to use my @llamaletters lessons to help with my lettering and I think it came out well! On the right page, you can see how usually Thursday’s are my cleaning days, and Fridays are lonely because I work all day! I also put my lettering to the test with my homemade weekend banner!

My Favorite and Recap:

You can say this week was pretty frustrating for me despite having a cute spread. I was dogsitting all week which is fun but kind of crazy. My best friend Alexis had her baby this week as well and it was awesome, he is such a cutie! I found myself in a constant work routine and did not really feel myself and my weekend did not really look like a real weekend. The meal planning this week was a disaster, Eddie and I wrote it out on Monday and ended up switching everything around! My favorite part about this spread was the cute weekend section because the puppy sticker used even has a little sweater that matches my washi! Also: The quotes used this week were “Put on some Lipstick and pill yourself together,” by Elizabeth Taylor, “You can never be over dressed or over educated,” by and another ones that is a bit hard to read!

Thanks for reading!

The Planned Life!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to my oh so, great blog! (Sarcasm.)

Well I have thought about this long and hard, and have decided to add some new sections and parts to this blog. Right now, it’s mostly reviews and late night thoughts. I hope to add more about my nail art in the future, tutorials and so on, but the next step in this humble blogs journey is tackling the Planning Community!

I will be regularly posting my planning adventures and keeping this blog updated on my planning. I have also been working on designing stickers, so hopefully soon, I will be able to offer some freebies to other planner enthusiasts.

Alright MOVING ON: Here are some quick FAQ’s

What type of planner do I use?

Currently, I am planning in a Plum Paper Planner for the 2015-2016 year. I debated whether this or the Erin Condren Planner would be better for me. I went with PPP for simple reasons: 1. It was cheaper 2. It could start on the month that I wanted it to, therefore no wasted months and 3. It’s the same size as the EC and the differences between the 2 are minuscule in my opinion.

So I use my Plum Paper Planner which I have trimmed and hole punched into a platinum Carpe Diem.

How often do I plan?

I plan every week on Sundays.

How long does it take you to plan?

Anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. I know, crazy.

What is your favorite thing about planning?

My favorite thing would be the fact that I can keep my life organized, which I really need because I seriously forget everything, and I can have a creative outlet. It let’s me set goals and encourage myself to move my life in the direction that I want.

How much do you spend on planning?

Honestly, everyone has their own way of planning. Some people love using stickers in their spreads, some love stamps or just simply writing in their tasks. Some like to use their planner as more of a diary, or inspirational book. How much you spend really depends on that. Now, I’m a college girl, and even though I go crazy for the adorable stickers, stamps etc in those wonderful etsy shops, I don’t have hundreds of dollars laying around for buying supplies every month. I am learning how to make stickers on my own and finding cheaper alternatives to suit my needs.

How do you plan on a budget?

It’s all about where to look. I spent hours on end searching the deepest caves of the internet looking for planner freebies, like printables. I shop at hobby lobby, michaels, walmart, and target when they have sales going on. The best plan is to learn how you plan and go accordingly. I will make another post about planning on a budget and tips later on. Keep an eye out.

Thanks so much for reading, and get ready for my planner posts, a series I’m going to call “The Planned Life!”

See ya in my next post!

Airbrushed Legs VoxBox!

Recently, I received another happy little box from a great website named Influenster. This website sends you free products to review, in exchange for your reviews! Penny for your thoughts type of thing. Click here to learn more about this website. Also, on my youtube channel you can find my unboxing of the Airbrushed Legs VoxBox.

So this is just leg makeup that you wear while you are showing off your legs, like wearing dresses, shorts. Personally, I don’t see an immediate need for something like this in my life. I don’t wear dresses, shorts or skirts that often. I wasn’t very impressed with the size of the product that influenster sent, but it was alright.

The actual makeup looks like a very sheer foundation formula and even makes your legs tanner. I liked it but was constantly worried about it rubbing off on chairs/sofas I sat on. It didn’t come on blotchy, but it water resistant. I didn’t go swimming while I had it on, but I bet my top dollar it would hold.

Overall, this seems like a nice product to invest in if you do wear things like this often and have veins, discoloration or scars that you want to try to even out. Just don’t expect miracles!

DIY Kylie Jenner Nails!

Everyone has been all over Kylie Jenner and all of her fabulousness so why not jump on the trend and look fabulous too?

The best part of this DIY… it cost me $3 to make… If you don’t have the polishes you want and need to buy more… it should cost you more than $6! Way better than $50 at a salon right? Let’s get into this! Now these aren’t acrylic, they are glue on nails but they last me a SOLID WEEK before they start popping off and the next time I need to do my nails like this, I didn’t even have to buy new supplies!
You will need: Nail Glue (I use the KISS Brush on nail glue, about $2), Fake Nails (Also KISS, $1 at Dollar General), Polish of your choice (Pictures above is ESSIE I forgot the name but it is a pale gray!), MATTE topcoat (I use the Salon Perfect one), and a nail file (any will do!)
FIRST: Remove all of your old polish and cut your nails short. This will help your nails stay on longer.
SECOND: Fit all of the nails, to make sure which fake nail will fit on which finger. File your whole nail to make a rough surface… this will help the glue adhere better!
THIRD: Brush on the glue (brush on glue is better than the other type because you have more control!) Also, I use two coats of glue.. and the press on the nail firmly for about 5 seconds.
FOURTH: File the fake nails to desired length… as you can see in the picture above…I didn’t go full Kylie because some of us actually have jobs you know..
FIFTH: Paint the nails and seal with a matte topcoat!
Something vital to remember: Its going to take time to get used to these, don’t be paranoid about them popping off but still be careful! You’ll get used to it before you know it, and always carry a spare nail in case of an accident!

How to Choose the RIGHT eyeshadow palette!

Know yourself!

There are many makeup palettes out there that are begging to be bought, and if you’re a makeup hoarder/ enthusiast like me, you’re always looking for the next best product. One little problem: budget.
Some of the palettes out there are pretty expensive for just a lot of eyeshadows, but the best part is that, you can’t feel guilty for splurging because these are things that you use daily! So how do I pick the best makeup palette for me? Which one do I buy next?
So step one  is to know yourself… do you like neutrals or bold pops of color? If you love neutrals maybe the Naked 2 is the better option and if you love bold, then maybe the Ammo Palette by Urban Decay. There are some palettes that have a mix of both. Do you like mattes, or shimmers? If you like mattes, maybe the Tartlette palette by Tarte is for you.
Step two: know your budget. Some of these palettes can run a bit high so think of what you need and figure out how much you are willing to spend on an eyeshadow! You don’t have to go big right away… build up your collection with palettes from NYX or Maybelline for example.
Step three: Do your research! Recently, I was looking to buy a palette and I came across the Coastal Scents Revealed 2, which looks gorgeous by the way, but after watching reviews on youtube, and reading some online, I came to know that it is something that I can live without because I hate chalky eyeshadows and honestly, it looks like this palette has quite a few!
So do your research and know yourself! One of the best tips I can offer is YouTube. Watch videos of beauty guru’s testing these things out and watch more than one! Then decide!

In my sleep, I have stopped dreaming

In my sleep I float out from under my covers and I find my way to you

In my sleep I cradle myself into your arms and bury my face in your chest

In my sleep, I hear your breathing like music to my ears and feel your heartbeat like the very blood pulsating inside of me

In my sleep I feel your hands on me
In my sleep I noticed that I have stopped dreaming

Maybe it’s because I’m not asleep

I notice I have stopped dreaming because I’m not asleep

I’m not asleep because I can hear your gentle snoring and feel your thick hair between my fingers

I’m not asleep because I can smell your skin right under my nose

I’m not asleep because you’re here,  right next to me, and you’re here to stay

Rimmel London Product Review

Thanks Influenster! For sending me these great products to try out, and to most importantly… LOVE! These babies were definitely exactly what I needed and they couldn’t have come at a better time!

Let’s talk about the Rimmel London Scandalous Eyes Eye Liner:

I was really in need of a black pencil eye liner and this is a beauty! It is perfectly pigmented and has a great base for control and even application. The black is spot on and is perfect for water lining and tight lining! Do these come in more colors?

Now… the Rimmel London Gentle Eye Makeup Remover:

I regularyly use the Mary Kay Oil Free makeup remover, but it costs me 15 bucks whereas this product would cost me 7. Which is a great deal. This product has that watery consistency not the very oily one, and paired with the right type of cotton pad and makeup wipes you can kiss your makeup goodbye at the end of the night and trust that you’re sleeping with a clean face! I love this eye makeup remover because it really is gentle and I love the size!

Thanks Influenster!

Celestial Tea Taste Test!

Displaying taste test banner final.jpg

Okay, to start off I would like to address the fact that I have been beyond sick this past few weeks and let me just mention that when I get sick… I GET SICK. My severe asthma definitely does NOT help and I just want to say that this taste test was performed by a person with a COLD.

So, Let’s talk process, shall we? I make my tea’s (and any other hot drinks for that matter) with my Keurig. First, I heat up the water, drop the tea packet in, add a sweetner and let it sit for about 2 minutes before drinking.

This Celestial Tea was sent to me for testing purposes by Influenster! I received it in my #FrostyVoxBox and it came with two tea packets. It is the Candy Cane Lane Green Tea, which is just a fancy holiday name for green tea. After I added a couple spoonfuls of honey (I’m sick remember!) and tried it out, I honestly fell in love! I love green tea and this was great for my hurting throat and even soothed my cough for a while after.  All in all, this product is great! It is a great tea to have around the house, and I will definitely be purchasing the full size.

#FrostyVoxBox Review

So I recently drafted this post… but wordpress lost it. Thank you WordPress.

I received the #FrostyVoxBox complimentary from influenster this past month and I am in love with (almost) everything this box had to offer me! It was the perfect early christmas gift from by buddies over at Influenster!

Let’s get right into it!

In my Voxbox I found a No. 7 Serum packet that is made to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and deep lines, which honestly, is no use to me. I mean I’m nineteen with no wrinkles and though I appreciate the thought Influenster, I didn’t really need it. My mom used it though and she really liked it.

Another thing was the NYC Lip color in Sugar Plum, which is awesome because makeup is always welcome in my Voxboxes but the packaging on this product is terribly poor. I cant put it in my purse, or makeup bag without fear that the cheap plastic cap will pop off and ruin the lipstick. It’s a gorgeous color though, and goes on smoothly and beautifully.  So product gets a 7/10 and product packaging a 1/10.

Next was the Celestial Seasonings Peppermint Lane Green Tea packets from their Holiday Tea collection, and this was great because I love green tea and this tea was so yummy! Keep an eye out for the taste test on my blog!

Now let’s talk about the wonderful EcoTools Hairbrush that I was doubting at first! When I first saw “EcoTools” I was so happy! I love this brand it is one of my favorites! When I felt the bristles on the brush I was kind of worried because they felt rough and like they would hurt. When I actually brushed my hair, it felt so soft! It was amazing and it helps detangle with minimal pain, and coming from me that’s a good review because I’ve got loooonnngg hair!

The item that surprised me the most was the McCormick Gourmet Thyme, because it is something I never expected to get but it is amazing! The packaging and product receive a 10/10 from me! Beautiful and yummy!

Now, I love Fruit Vines, and influenster was kind enough to let me have some for free! My mom buys them all the time and I was excited to get a bag to share with my boyfriend. These are yummy candies that are kind of like twizzlers!

Last but not least, we have the Rimmel products which were the best part of the box in my opinion, I desperately needed an eyeliner and Scandalous Eyes hooked me up! And what better way to remover the eye liner than with Rimmel London’s Gentle Eye Makeup Remover? Great products! Look for a blog update soon! 🙂
